Re: Departure of Cambodian JENESYS Delegation

A Cambodian youth delegation of 20 people, consisting of 16 high school students, one government official and 3 teachers, will depart Cambodia on October 27, 2008 for a stay of approximately 10 days in Japan. This is the forth group, from Cambodia to join the JENESYS Programme *(Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths).

During their visit to Japan, students will visit sites related to Japanese politics, economy, and social and cultural affairs, as well as local communities. They will join in with exchange events with Japanese youths and citizens, including homestays, school visits, discussions, seminars, student conferences, etc. Read the rest of this entry »

PHNOM PENH, 17 October 2008 – The Center for Social Development (CSD) is pleased to announce the availability of 15,000 newly-printed copies of the CSD Fair Trial Handbook (2nd Edition) for public dissemination and consumption.

This 2nd Edition of the Handbook incorporates new provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure adopted in August 2007, comments and suggestions from the average readers and court officials, and full color illustrations (by CSD’s renowned cartoonists Mr. SAM Sarath and Mr. SEN Samondara) which are found on almost every page. Reconciling Peace with Justice in Pailin
Dialogue with residents of former KR stronghold

PRESS RELEASE

PHNOM PENH, 13 October 2008 – The Center for Social Development (CSD) is pleased to invite the public to join residents of Pailin, family members of detained senior former Khmer Rouge leaders, senior officials of the Extraordinary Chambers (ECCC), donor representatives, scholars and other civil society organizations to engage in dialogue on issues of justice and national reconciliation at the CSD-organized public forum in Pailin.

The forum will be held this Friday, 17 October 2008.

In preparation for the public forum in Pailin we have coordinated among small groups of residents and local authorities, inviting participants from two districts totaling around 150 people in number. The participants include villagers, former Khmer Rouge soldiers, students, teachers, monks, and local authority personnel from the departments of culture and fine arts, religion, education, information and women’s affairs. ECCC PRE-TRIAL CHAMBER HEARING

The Pre-Trial Chamber of the ECCC has scheduled a public hearing of the reading of the decision on the Appeal by Ieng Sary against the Order of Provisional Detention. The Chamber has decided to permit a live feed of the proceedings to be given to radio and television stations for public broadcast. Media representatives and the general public are also invited to attend in person.

Please Note: The AV Connections for the media are now BNC for video and XRL for audio.

The session will commence at 2:30pm on 17 October 2008. All people must be in their designated seats 30 minutes before the opening of the session. It is recommended to arrive at the ECCC between 12.30pm and 1.30pm in order to leave enough time for security checks and issuance of tickets. Gates will close at 2:00pm or when all seats in the court room are fully occupied. All persons seeking admission to the ECCC must present a proof of identification (including a photo) and must pass through a security check. Please note, no persons under 18 years of age will be admitted to the court. No mobile phones, large bags, food or drink will be permitted in the main courtroom. Read the rest of this entry »

What is love?

Hi everybody, do you know the mean of love or what is love?  Some body, we known that the mean of love and we know as well as about love or know about real love. But someone we are not known about love or sometime we can not meet the persons that we love it. More of men or women, we are not known about the mean of love or test of love, and how about he/she feeling of love?

My friend Mr. Vutha said that love is very difficult to tall; sometime we make him powerful, make happy, power men… etc and sometime he said that make him feel lonely, very sad, body fell not powerful, miss her baby, he don’t want to do every thing in daily day or monthly, and he feeling a very very sad and lose something very impotent in he life …etc. How about every body love? Media Alert: ECCC Trial Progress

The Court notes a significant level of public interest about the commencement of the first trial before the ECCC.  The Court therefore wishes to clarify what procedural steps remain to be taken, and provide some information on the likely start date of the trial in the Kaing Guek-Eav (alias Duch) case.

On 21 August 2008, the Co-Prosecutors appealed the Closing Order issued by the Co-Investigating judges.  They filed their brief on 5 September, and the Defence responded on 22 September.  The Civil Parties are also entitled to respond. Read the rest of this entry »

Kampot Province

Kampot is a province on the South coast of Cambodia and is 148km from Phnom Penh. Kampot has 4,873sq km area, 558,586 populations, 108 densities, 8 distict, 92 communes, and 477 villages.

Name: Bokor Resort, Locates at 42-Kilometer distance from the provincial town of Kampot, and was found by a French people 1922 during the reign of the King, Sisovath Before, Bokor was a leisure place for French colonists who need to exchange atmosphere from the plain area to the mountainous area at seaside. The Mountain of Bokor has 1,075-meter height, good weather and beautiful natural view with big trees and rocks shaping up as animal figure. In Sang Kum Reas Ni Yum, there were public buildings, which look like a city there. At seven-kilometer distance from the mountain, there is a swimming spot locating at the waterfall? Po Pok Vil?.
