Khmer Rouge Attempting To Wipe Out Ethnic Minorities in Cambodia (END)

Posted by khmernews on July 8, 2008

(Continued from the previous issue)
Based on the crimes that Khmer Rouge committed and on the suggestions of Cambodian people, the Khmer Rouge tribunal should sentence Khmer Rouge leaders in response to the ruthless crimes that they committed at the end of 20 century. This does not include the ruthless killing on Vietnamese people who lived in Cambodia. Pol Pot regarded those people as their number one enemy.

Moreover, many ethnic minorities who were born in the South of Vietnam were also killed by Khmer Rouge because they were accused of being half Khmer and half Vietnamese since they used to live in Vietnam and could speak Vietnamese language. More than that in 1975, Khmer Rouge killed Chinese people and accused those people of being capitalists. They did not care whether those people had Cambodian nationality or not.

However, after 1976 those Chinese people’s condition is better because Pol Pot stopped killing them and evacuated them to different places. Other ethnic minorities who became Cambodian citizens or not yet become were suspected to be killed by Khmer Rouge because in 1979 those people were not seen.

At the end, as I am a reporter and in the name of ethnic minorities, I want to suggest the Khmer Rouge tribunal to sentence those Khmer Rouge leaders equal to the atrocities that they had done.
