Cambodia demonstrates good progress in education with respect to school enrolment, school dropout, and total literacy in recent years.

Country aims to achieve universal primary by 2010 and lower secondary education by 2015. To achieve the aim, the Royal Government of Cambodia and line ministries have been paying attention to increase teachers in schools, improve their professional skills, establish new schools, and provide stipend to poor students.

Adult and youth literacy rates in the country increased to 73.6% and 83.4% in 2003 from 62% and 73.5% in 1990 respectively.
