Posted by khmernews on November 13, 2006

People from three villages Svay Sor, Ta Duos and Prasad Vein were killed during 1977-1978 at Bak Keiy mountain foot.

The 50-60 victims were accused of betraying their country for telling their relative and they to escape to Thailand bother.

Before 1970, Svay Sor covered these presently Svay Sor, Ta Duos and Prasad Vein villages with 100 families. In Khmer Rough regime they created Sa Hak Kor Svay Sor-Pun Ley to dig canal and Pun Ley water storage from Svay Sor village, Pha Kurm commune to Pun Ley village, Pun Ley commune in Svay Cheik district. The Sa Hak Kor was also ordered to do farming and clear land for plantation on the mountain foot, said Sa Linh Deurm, today Svay village chief.

In the west region, not to say good about Khmer Rough, people over 60 years old were just forced to do heavy work had enough food and they did not arrest innocent people to kill. Local people were not greatly bothered, said villagers.

When leader evacuated people from East and South- West region to Phnom Srok, Svay Chek and Thmor Pouk district in 1976-1977, unexpected turmoil exploded such as kept new evacuators in no-wall prison without sufficient food, water and  everything to support lives till they died. In 1977, South-West people won the East they arrest people to prison to torture and kill in the direction to clear all East people, they said.

“The South-West not only full of anger with the East after they won but they executed and killed all people in the village. Khmer Rough arrested any people who tried to escape to Thai bother or people who had families fled to the bother”, said village chief.

Khmer Rough alleged all those killed people of betray their country for trying to run to neighbored Thai, he said.

People in the three villages were killed and buried at Bak Keiy Mountain foot that covered with thick forests, said lived people in the village.

Most people were killed in Moa and Yang Vein among villages in Pha Kurm commune. New evacuators including Kong Samearn’s wife, Khmer famous actor in 1975, was also died there, said some witness in the commune.

However, 30 years after genocide regime it is hard to find any sign related to genocide like graves, skeleton except witness. Even so, canals, irrigation, lost of people’s lives are the clear evidence to show cruel torture of genocide regime, the witness said
